SANDSAYRE PIER

The above photos show the start of the refurbishment of Sandsayre Pier, Sandwick, Shetland recently.

Local contractor Tulloch Developments are tasked with dismantling the pier stone by stone and rebuilding it to protect it for years to come.

The Pier has been used by the Mousa ferry for many years, transporting tourists and locals alike to see the island famous for it's Iron age Broch as well as stunning wildlife.

The pier has been suffering from structural problems for quite some time and it's pleasing to see that it will eventually get a new lease of life and be enjoyed for generations to come.

With special thanks to my friend Scott Goudie for kindly agreeing for the use of the photos.
